Born on Reunion Island in 1993, Johan SAARTAVE was surrounded by music from an early age, thanks to his musician parents.
His bass-playing father introduced him to the bass guitar at the age of 12, and he went on to teach himself.
Maloya, sega, African music, funk and jazz fusion are among the styles that have forged his musical culture.
He began expressing his art on stage at the age of 17.
He has already accompanied many artists, including Maperine, Apolonia, Baster, Tine Poppy, Teddy Baptiste, Jean Pierre Jozefin, M’toro Chamou, Sofy Mazandira, Mounawar, Natacha Tortillard, Meddy Gerville, Christophe Zoogones and many others.
His passion has enabled him to travel the world and discover other musical cultures.
Recognized for his versatility and insight, his musical encounters have enriched his knowledge and made him the bassist he is today.
For him, “music is an art to be lived and felt”.
