In September 2007, the association le groupe MAROVOULE was born in La Plaines des Cafres, Tampon Réunion.
They said to themselves: “Why not take a part of our history, of our cultural heritage, to start the adventure of the group and become an integral part of Reunion’s musical heritage.
MAROVOULE was one of the first inhabitants to be exiled to Réunion Island in 1654, along with a dozen other Madagascans.
MAROVOULE means L’HOMME TAUREAU in Malagasy, and is a key figure in our island’s history (Source: histoire de la réunion volume 1 by DANIEL VAXELAIRE).
Musical style: Electric Maloya, Maloya fusion.
A music that blends traditional Maloya, with key instruments such as the Rouler, Kayamb and Piker, to which are added bass, guitars, drums etc. The style of music is very broad: Maloya is fused with Sega, Reggae, Seggae and other influences, resulting in a different music for each track.
The group has 4 albums to its credit, the latest of which is a double CD Live show.
In these albums, they certainly give priority to musical quality, but this is above all the best way to get their messages across.

Above all, Marovoule values live performance through its various live shows, or musical platforms organized by the group itself… They have their own rehearsal room with all the necessary equipment, so they can rehearse in excellent conditions.
The group has performed extensively on the island since its inception.
In 2023 Philippe has put everything back together to make Marovoule shine again, with a very fine team complete at all levels. He has been working on optimizing various communication tools, promoting the life of the band and relaunching concerts, solo, duo, trio and more. A main objective would be to replay the show that was a success, followed by the release of its double Live CD, with an eager audience waiting since 2020.
